Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, finely diced
- 2 celery stalks, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 bay leaf
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 pound spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
- Add onion, carrots, and celery to the pot. Cook until vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, oregano, basil, and bay leaf.
- Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.
- Remove bay leaf from the sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Drain the pasta and serve topped with the bolognese sauce.
- Garnish with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
