- 6 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan.
- In a large bowl, mix the apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust and dot with butter.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Crimp the edges to seal and cut a few slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
